Kathy Dunn offered a session on May 18.
Welcome to Main Street Writers! We are celebrating our 28th year of Creative Writing Workshops in the Pioneer Valley of Massachusetts – and Online. Writing offers ways to explore the worlds around us and inside of us. And it’s easier than you might expect: if you can talk to a close friend, you can write. Beginners and seasoned writers are welcome. Further Information: http://mainstreetwriters.com/

Dressing
by Lara Bridger
For Daniel
Tonight is the night
my husband’s hands hover
over my exposed belly.
Tonight is the night I watch,
counting his knuckle hairs.
My husband’s hands
are two small animals
sniffing each other,
But my belly
is pale cream silk.
Tonight is the night
he changes the bandages
on the wound,
we pray on Sundays,
has healed me.
But tonight he tucks
a small strip of gauze
with a pair of tweezers
into the weeping hole in my gut
as gently as you might
stroke a moth’s wings.
It is a tiny receipt,
fed into a flesh wound register.
A flag of surrender?
No. It is the ribbon
that held my wedding dress together,
The one he tugged so tenderly
the night he hovered over me
And we became one body.
Thank you for joining us to Write Around the World!
For the rest of the summer, watch our blog! We are sharing writing from AWA’s yearly marathon fundraiser, which happened this year all-online throughout the month of May.
We offer this series in appreciation for the incredible community of writers and workshop leaders that sustain us. If you’re inspired and would like to be part of the fundraiser, please donate!
