Ruth Lebowitz offered a session on May 15.
Ruth is a facilitator, psychologist, and published writer. She has been certified in the AWA method since 2011. She delights in the magic that occurs when people come together to write in safe, compassionate community.
Each group she facilitates tends to focus on a theme that can be interpreted in multiple ways. She welcomes diverse voices and writing styles and encourages participants to express and share their voice.

As soon as I sit on a cushion
Determined to meditate,
Trained on nothingness,
On the cusp of enlightenment,
My dog’s heart shatters,
The refrigerator is dying of hunger
And I can hear the phone ringing
Even before it rings
And know it is my mother
As certainly as steam rises
From my teacup (the special one
I bought at the yoga shop
With the pretty picture of a lotus),
An imitation of silence.
Thank you for joining us to Write Around the World!
For the rest of the summer, watch our blog! We are sharing writing from AWA’s yearly marathon fundraiser, which happened this year all-online throughout the month of May.
We offer this series in appreciation for the incredible community of writers and workshop leaders that sustain us. If you’re inspired and would like to be part of the fundraiser, please donate!
