Barbara Krasner offered sessions on May 9.
Barbara Krasner is a Pushcart Prize-nominated writer of fiction, poetry, and creative nonfiction who often draws on her family history of migration, displacement, and secrets. Her work has appeared in numerous literary journals including Michigan Quarterly Review, Nimrod, and Jewish Literary Journal. Her work has been anthologized in Press 53’s Everywhere Stories, Volumes II and III.

When I was 10, the Girl Scout magazine American Girl published a short piece I sent. Sending material was one of the requirements for the Writers Badge. I was a Cadette Scout and very proud of my badges. A parent had to sign the completion of the requirements. I remember my mother laughing out loud when I finished my housekeeper badge requirements, but not when I finished my writer badge requirements.
I don’t have the badge anymore, nor the piece, but I know that it placed second for that month, earning me $5 instead of $10 for the top winner. The first sentence had the verb “donned,” as in “I donned my jacket,” which I thought was very writerly.
